It's pouring with rain in London. Actually, it's been raining fairly solidly since my birthday last week, and hasn't really let up. Which would be fine if we were in the Southern Hemisphere, where it's mid-winter and rain is fairly common, but here in England, it's meant to be summer. After our six month winter and interminable grey skies of April, we feel we're owed a little balmy summer action - but it hasn't arrived yet. I contemplate with irony that Mum and Dad are currently in sunny Los Angeles, about to get on a plane to come to London in Summer - where it's still winter, just with longer days. Hoorah - more light with which to see the rain falling all night.
Predictably, Mum was flapping on the phone a couple of nights ago about the trip, which she displaced into her concerns that she hadn't packed yet, that both she and Dad seem to have caught colds, and that she had no idea what to pack. With this weather, I hope they've brought sensible shoes, an umbrella apiece and a good raincoat. Sigh.
Well, 12 hours to go. I've been cleaning the house solidly for hours in the hope that Mum won't feel the need to start vacuuming or dusting as soon as she gets here. I hope it works!

Hi John
Just go with the flow and leave the lux strategically placed. Probably more important to get the TV tuned!!!
