London
This blog has been set up to record Maureen and Maurice's trip to London and Europe in June 2008. I'll be posting regular updates on our adventures and the odd photo of Mum and Dad discovering the joys of bratwurst in Prague or leather trousers in Austria. Stay tuned, y'all.
Meanwhile, I've been cleaning for days in the hope that Mum will be able to come into my flat and just sit down, without needing to run a finger over a flat surface to check for dust or just jump up so she can spontaneously clean the oven. Like mother, like son, I think. And they're here for a month - wish us luck!
On the upside, it's been fun to be able to tart up the house in preparation for long-term house guests, and buy things like lampshades and kitchen clocks, hang pictures and fluff cushions. I'm slightly concerned that I still don't have curtains or blinds for the living room, and that Mum and Dad will have nothing to dust or peer behind at the neighbours, so a trip to Hideous Old Lady Net Curtains R Us may be in order. I also need to get the TV tuned so we can get live reception - so far, my technology skills have only extended to plugging in the DVD player, though something tells me Dad won't thrill to my collection of dour Eastern European art films.
Two days to go until they arrive...
